Aurora

With my roots in Jämtland of Northern Sweden, I remember childhood clear winter nights, looking up at a star-sprinkled sky, spellbound by the sight of Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights. In many indigenous cultures in the Arctic region, the Northern Lights are seen as the spirits of the ancestors, a sign of good fortune and with the power to heal and protect people from harm. In Japanese folklore, it is believed that if a baby is conceived under the Northern Lights, the child will and its family will be blessed with good luck fortune.

When commissioned by Stackelbergs to design a collection of blankets, I took inspiration from the Northern Lights - creating patterns filled with colour and motion. With founder Anna-Carin Stackelberg, I found common ground not only in our shared passion for nature, but also in our sense of quality and design. Thanks to Stackelberg's profound experience of textile production, we could make this contemporary design come alive.

The Aurora collection of blankets is handmade in Italy.
